We're receiving such amazing feedback with the true stories over at @atipeople, I've just gotta share a few on #achievetheimpossible! DENZEL WASHINGTON At the age of 14, Denzel's parents divorced. His mother then sent him to Oakland Military Academy in New York. Washington states "that decision changed my life. I wouldn't have survived in the direction I was going." He acknowledged the power in surrounding yourself with the right people. Denzel then attended Fordham University, and during a period of indecision on which major to study, he dropped out of school for a semester. During this time, he accepted a job as Creative Arts Director at an overnight summer camp in Lakeville, Connecticut. One evening, the staff put on a talent show for the students, which Denzel performed a dramatic piece. After the show, one of his colleagues suggested he try acting. This re-ignited Washington's passion, and chose to pursue an acting career. The rest is history. Denzel Washington has won three Golden Globe Awards, a Tony Award, two Academy Awards, and this year, has been awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. He is one of the most successful actors of our generation, who is using his influence to create change in the world! Believe in yourself - stay true to your dreams and pursue your passion!
